Product Overview:
Baotashan Brand Alkyd Hull Paint is an outdoor alkyd finish paint, formulated by mixing modified alkyd resin, pigments, driers, additives, and organic solvents, then ground into a one-component packaged coating. It is mainly used for painting hulls, ships, or superstructures of offshore oil platforms. The coating offers excellent fullness, strong color stability, simple application, and can dry naturally.
Product Features:
1. The surface quality of this product depends on the application method; mixed application methods should be avoided as much as possible.
2. This product must be used with a special thinner for hull paint; using other thinners may severely affect the drying, gloss, and recoating intervals of the paint film.

Construction Reference:
Surface Preparation—— All surfaces to be painted should be clean, dry, firm, free of grease, and rust. The surface should be evaluated and treated according to the international standard ISO 8504. On painted surfaces, it should only be applied over dry, clean, and intact compatible primers.
Dust removal – Use compressed air gun to blow it clean or sweep with a clean brush.
Oil stain treatment – First remove with a thinner or treat by other means, then wipe clean with a dry cloth. If conditions allow, wash with dilute acid first, rinse with clean water, then air dry or oven dry.
Construction Environment - The substrate temperature should be at least 3°C above the dew point of the air, with an optimal application temperature range of (5–35)°C. The relative humidity of the air should be less than 75%. Avoid construction during rainy, snowy, or foggy conditions. When working in confined spaces, ensure proper ventilation to guarantee the normal drying of the paint film.
Construction Method – Air Spraying or High-Pressure Airless Spraying
Dilution Ratio – Generally 3-15% of the paint quantity used
Spray Gun Pressure –
Air Spraying: Pressure 0.3~0.6MPa, Spray Pattern 40~80.
Airless spraying: Nozzle diameter 0.33-0.48 mm, paint pressure at the nozzle not less than 12.8MPa
Tool cleaning — Special thinner for hull paint
Drying and recoating intervals:
Ventilation conditions, temperature, film thickness, and coating layers all correspondingly affect drying time. The typical data listed in the table below is based on the following conditions:
*Well-ventilated (outdoors or with natural air circulation)
*Typical film thickness
*Single coating on inert substrate

Recommended supporting products:
Alkyd primer 2*30 microns (dry film thickness)
Alkyd Enamel 2*30 microns (dry film thickness)
Other matching systems can be designed based on specific conditions. For additional configurations, please consult our company's technical center.
Health and Safety:
To prevent skin and eye contact with paint, wear appropriate work clothing, gloves, protective goggles, and a mask before starting the job. If paint splashes onto the skin, immediately wash it off with warm water, soapy water, or other suitable cleaning agents. If it gets into the eyes, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and seek medical attention promptly.
Ensure good ventilation at the construction site. When performing spray painting, wear an air mask to avoid inhaling solvent vapors and paint mist. Never pour paint into drains or sewer systems.
This product is flammable. Keep away from open flames during storage and application. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the working area. Store the product out of reach of children.
Storage:
Ata temperature of 25℃, it can be stored for at least 12 months, after which it should be inspected before use. Store in a dry, ventilated, shaded area, away from fire and heat sources.
Notes:
The above information and data are obtained based on laboratory tests and experimental experience. Due to individual circumstances (such as construction techniques, testing methods, or coating improvements), the data may vary.
