Product Overview:
Type I Black Petroleum Pipe Protective Coating is formulated by blending modified alkyd resin, anti-rust additives, pigments, and solvents, followed by grinding. This product features quick drying at room temperature (surface drying within 30 minutes), making it suitable for stacking and wrapping in production lines without sticking. It is primarily used for medium to short-term rust prevention of petroleum pipes.
Product Features:
1. The surface finish of this product depends on the application method. Avoid mixed application methods whenever possible;
2. To achieve the specified film thickness, multiple coats must be applied, with attention to the interval between applications;
3. This product must be applied using alkyd thinner.
Coating data | Colors | Fully Dry | Typical Dry Film thickness | Theoretical Coverage Rate | Coating Method |
Black | 7d | Dry film 40-50μm | 8㎡/㎏ | Spraying or brushing |
Construction reference:
Surface Treatment—Before painting, the substrate surface should be clean, dry, smooth, and firm, free from oil, rust, or other contaminants. If issues such as oil residue, old paint layers, or weld burrs are present on the steel surface, mechanical treatment methods should be employed (preferably sandblasting or shot blasting for rust removal, if conditions permit), aiming to achieve a surface preparation grade of Sa2.5 or higher (Sa3.0).
Treatment of floating dust—Use an air gun to blow it clean or sweep it clean with a clean brush.
Old paint film treatment—Remove it with a scraper, then fill and sand it smooth, or use other methods as appropriate.
Grease treatment – First, remove or treat with a thinner or other methods, then wipe clean with a clean cloth. If conditions permit, clean with dilute acid first, then rinse with water, and finally air dry or oven dry.
Construction environment – The optimal application temperature for this product is between 5°C and 40°C. Relative humidity must be below 75%. Avoid application during rain, snow, or foggy weather, and prevent contact with water. Adequate ventilation should be provided during application and drying in confined spaces. The construction surface must be dry and clean, and the substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point.
Construction Method - Air spraying. If special application methods (such as airless spraying or roller coating) are to be used, this should be specified in advance so the company can adjust the formulation accordingly.
Dilution Ratio - Generally 2-4% of the paint volume used
Spraying pressure — 0.3~0.6MPa
Tool cleaning — Special thinner
Drying and recoating interval time:

Recommended complementary products:
Various colors of alkyd ready-mixed paint can be paired with our company's phenolic anti-rust paint, iron red alkyd primer, or iron red primer. For alternative pairings, please consult our technical center.
Health and Safety:
Please heed the warning labels on the packaging containers. Use under well-ventilated conditions. Avoid swallowing or inhaling paint mist. To prevent skin and eye contact with the paint, wear appropriate protective clothing, gloves, goggles, and masks before application. If paint splashes onto the skin, immediately wash it off with warm water, soapy water, or other suitable cleansers. If paint gets into the eyes, rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water and seek immediate medical attention.
Storage:
It must be stored in accordance with national regulations. The storage environment should be dry, cool, well-ventilated, and away from heat sources and open flames. The packaging container must remain tightly sealed. It can be stored for up to 6 months at 25°C, after which it should be inspected before use. If stratification occurs, it can still be used after thorough mixing.
Note:
The above materials and data are all based on laboratory tests and experimental experience, and there may be variations due to individual circumstances (such as construction techniques, testing methods, or paint improvements).
