Product Introduction:
RL-02 Reflective Coating belongs to a composite coating system, with a structure that reflects comprehensive functions of solar shielding, heat reflection, thermal insulation, and corrosion resistance. It is divided into two layers: base and top. The functional requirements of the topcoat comply with the mechanisms of light and heat reflection, absorption, and emission, predominantly in white, often using weather-resistant acrylic topcoats or fluorocarbon topcoats. The primer or intermediate coat follows the principles of heat storage, conversion, and transmission within the coating film, featuring characteristics of high thin-layer application and superior thermal insulation. The primer primarily serves corrosion protection and thermal insulation purposes, typically employing epoxy-based anticorrosive paints.
Product Features:
1. With low thermal conductivity and excellent reflective insulation properties, it significantly reduces the temperature of metal surfaces such as petrochemical storage tanks and pipelines under sunlight exposure, providing an insulation and cooling effect on the inner surfaces of coated equipment. No water spraying is required for cooling, which saves energy and protects the environment, holding significant importance.
2. Lightweight, thin layers, and relatively simple construction.

Construction Reference:
This paint can be applied by rolling, brushing, or spraying, using baotashan Paint's specialized solvent as the thinner. A dried film thickness of 260-310μm achieves excellent thermal insulation performance.
1. For metal surface coating, start with surface treatment to meet the Sa2.5 rust removal grade requirement, meaning the metal surface must be free of visible oil, dirt, oxide scale, rust, paint, and other attachments.
2. Subsequently, apply four coats of RL-02 reflective coating as an anti-corrosion and thermal insulation primer (each coat applied at 12-hour intervals, with a total dry film thickness of no less than 200μm). After a 24-hour interval, apply two coats of RL-02 reflective topcoat (each coat applied at 24-hour intervals, with a total dry film thickness of no less than 80–100μm). Allow to cure for at least 7 days before the product is ready for use.
3. For metal surfaces where the original coating remains largely intact, it is unnecessary to completely remove the old coating. Only areas with damage, peeling, blistering, or localized rust should be treated to achieve a surface free of visible oil, grease, dirt, scale, rust, and other contaminants. Immediately apply a partial coat of RL-02 reflective anti-corrosion and heat-insulating primer. Once the primer has fully cured, perform overall surface roughening. Then apply four full coats following the same standards as before. Note that each subsequent coat should only be applied after the previous one has fully cured; otherwise, inter-coat adhesion may be compromised, leading to insufficient coating thickness. Construction personnel should also be mindful of weather conditions' impact on the curing process of the coating.
According to the customer's coating requirements, the primer adopts epoxy zinc-rich coating, using our company's primer as the intermediate coat.
Precautions:
1. Tools used after construction must be kept dry and clean.
2. Close the lid promptly after opening the bucket to prevent the paint surface from drying out. After mixing the paint, the hardener packaging bucket must be tightly sealed to avoid curing failure.
3. The hardeners and thinners for primers and topcoats are not interchangeable. Pay attention when using them.
4. The relative humidity during construction shall not exceed 80%.
5. When the room temperature is below 0°C, the drying and curing process slows down. Construction should not be carried out during rainy days or when wind speeds exceed level 4.
Fire prevention and ventilation must be ensured during construction. Use foam or dry powder extinguishers as firefighting materials.
Emergency response:
To avoid skin and eye contact with the paint, wear protective clothing, gloves, goggles, and masks before starting work. If paint splashes onto the skin, immediately wash it off with warm water, soapy water, or other appropriate cleaning agents. If paint gets into the eyes, rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water and seek immediate medical attention.
The construction site should be well-ventilated, and an air mask must be worn during spraying to prevent inhalation of solvent vapors and paint mist. Do not pour the paint into sewers or drainage pipes.
This product is flammable. Keep away from open flames during storage and application, and smoking is strictly prohibited at the construction site. The product should be stored out of reach of children.
Storage:
Can be stored for at least 12 months at 25°C, after which it should be inspected before use. Store in a dry, ventilated, and shaded place, away from fire and heat sources.
